Rescuing a Vineyard

The last of three November (2014) storms to hit our area caused huge damage to one of the Domaine des Trinites parcels close to Gabian. The parcel of vines was flooded as far as the main D13 - Faugères to Roujan road. This according to the locals had never happened in living memory.

Bravely, Simon and Monica accepted the help of several amateurs, including St. Pargoire parishioners, not only to clear the detritus left by the floods but to also prune the vines - Will they ever be the same again?

On the day, Simon estimated that 100 vines were lost, but many more were saved?

Great fun was had by all, including the local pyromaniac, who lit the bonfires when everyone was down wind......

What would have taken Simon and Monica several days to accomplish, we managed to do in a few hours. Whether the vines will produce good quality wine after we had been at it remains to be seen.
